Emma Diniz Ryan is a half Goan, half Irish chef and food writer based in South London. In 2020 she graduated from Leiths School of Food & Wine where she completed a culinary diploma to become a chef, a career change after working for several years as an illustrator. She is writes a food newsletter called Yesterday’s Curry about Goan cuisine and culinary traditions, a project she started so she could learn more about her heritage and share her own recipes. She often combines her recipe writing with food illustrations, some of which have featured in newspapers in India and the UAE. She is passionate about popularising the food, history and culture of Goa. In July 2021, she was shortlisted for the Yan-Kit So Memorial Award for Food Writers on Asia for her Goan cookbook proposal.
