We are looking for a Dramatic Rights Agent – the role will depend on experience – to join the growing Film & TV department at the Madeleine Milburn Literary, TV & Film Agency.

Responsibilities would include, but are not limited to, handling book to screen rights for the agency’s titles, managing the ongoing book to screen process post-deal, and building the profile of the Agency’s book to screen department. There is also the opportunity to build a list of screenwriters alongside handling scripts written by the agency’s existing clients.

The agency works with co-agents in LA on a case-by-case basis, but you would be handling book-to-screen rights for the majority of our titles, selling directly to British and European producers and companies, as well as into the US where appropriate. The ideal candidate will have excellent contacts with a wide range of producers and talent, and at least 3 years’ relevant experience either in the film & TV world, or the literary. This role would suit someone who is perhaps as an assistant or associate agent looking for a next step.

The ideal candidate:

•  Strong relationships with industry contacts
•  Sound commercial awareness and ability to identify market trends and film/TV opportunities
•  Interest and/or experience in representing writers for screen
•  Negotiating skills and a thorough understanding of option agreements and contracts
•  Ability to work under pressure
•  Strategically focused
•  Excellent organisational skills and an avid reader

The Madeleine Milburn Literary, TV & Film Agency works directly with producers and film studios, and in close association with leading Film & TV agencies such as ICM Partners and Creative Artists Agency (CAA) in Los Angeles, to secure the best deals with TV production companies, film studios and broadcasters in the UK and Hollywood. The agency represents award-winning and bestselling authors of adult and children’s fiction and non-fiction who consistently feature on The Sunday Times, New York Times and international bestseller lists. Clients include Gail Honeyman, Fiona Barton, C.J. Tudor, Mark Edwards, C.L. Taylor, Holly Bourne and Elizabeth Macneal.

We pride ourselves on investing in our staff, and though the ultimate salary level is based on experience, it will be between £28 – £40,000 per annum, and subject to a review after 6 months.
