The Puzzle of You is Leah’s third novel. Her debut novel, the bestselling Who We Were Before and her second novel, The Man I Thought You Were were both shortlisted for a Romantic Novelists’ Association award following their subsequent publications.
The Puzzle of You is the emotional story of Charlotte, who wakes up following a horrific car accident…
When a car crash leaves Charlotte McKay with a head injury, the last thing she recalls is a trip to Rome with her husband David…four years earlier.
When she learns that they have a three-year-old daughter, she’s shocked. She remembers nothing of her life as a mother, not even getting pregnant – not even being ready to try for a baby.
She’s certain that once she sees her daughter, it will all come back. But when Annabelle streaks into her mother’s arms, Charlotte is still unable to believe this little girl belongs to her.
Can Charlotte slot into a world that’s now unrecognisable, as mother to a daughter she has no memory of raising, and no memory of wanting?
If being a mother has changed everything both inside and out, how can she ever adapt when she can’t recall any of it?
Early reviews of the novel have been terrific:
“A thought provoking read!” Goodreads reviewer, 4 stars
“Interesting and well done book!” Goodreads reviewer
Leah Mercer was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, on the east coast of Canada. By the age of thirteen, she’d finished her first novel and received very encouraging rejections from publishers. Leah put writing on hold to focus on athletics, achieving provincial records and becoming a Canadian university champion in the 4 × 400-metre relay.
After getting her BA, she turned to writing again, earning a masters in journalism. A few years later she left Canada and settled in London, where she now lives with her husband and their young son. Leah also writes under the name Talli Roland, and her books have been shortlisted at the UK’s Festival of Romance.
