It’s an exciting day here at Madeleine Milburn Literary Agency.
Two of our brilliant illustrators, Poonam Mistry and Louise Warwick, and one of our authors, Maisie Chan, contributed to the anthology Ladybird Tales of Super Heroes, a truly stunning collection of stories…
Superheroes have always been with us, from gods with mighty powers to human heroes who don disguises to save the day . . . Join six larger-than-life mythic and legendary heroes from around the world in this colourful, illustrated collection of Ladybird Tales. Meet tricksters, fighters, shape-shifters and even people who save the day with just the power of speech.
The stories included are:
Anansi the Spider-Man
Loki and the Magical Hammer
Hanuman, Demon Fighter
Inanna in the Underworld
Shahrazad the Storyteller
The Legend of Hua Mulan
Perfect for bedtime, to read aloud or enjoy alone, these thrilling tales breathe marvellous life into ancient tales. It includes a special introduction from award-winning author David Solomons.
Maisie wrote The Legend of Hua Mulan, a gorgeous retelling of an ancient Chinese legend, based on the legend The Ballad of Mulan.
Poonam illustrated Hanuman Demon Fighter, a stunning tale revolving around Hanuman the monkey god, originating from the Indian epic the Ramayana.
Anasi the Spider-Man doesn’t originate from one single tale, and is rather an amalgamation of generations of stories that have been passed down by word of mouth. This wonderful tale is beautifully illustrated by Louise Warwick.
Louise Warwick is a collage based illustrator who also enjoys observational drawing. She has a BA in Illustration and an MA in Children’s Book Illustration. In 2017, she was shortlisted for The Batsford Prize.
