The Madeleine Milburn Agency is delighted to announce that, after a heated auction, Usborne Publishing has acquired World English language rights in two books for 9-12 year olds by début author Lara Williamson: A BOY CALLED HOPE and THE BOY WHO SAILED THE OCEAN IN AN ARMCHAIR. Usborne will publish Lara’s debut as their lead middle-grade title in Spring 2014.

A BOY CALLED HOPE is a refreshingly funny, tear-jerking but ultimately uplifting story about Dan’s adventure to be reunited with his dad. Lara was born and studied in Northern Ireland. After graduating with a BA (Hons) in Fashion Design she moved to London and worked for a number of magazines including J17 as Beauty Editor. The opening chapters of her début novel received an Honorary Mention in Undiscovered Voices 2012.
